Are JWs "mind trained" to be habitual liars?
by nonjwspouse ini don't mean overly obvious, or otherwise meaning to cause harm, but taught to lie for the purpose of avoidance.
this type of lying can be pervasive in areas of life that are not just to avoid discussions with people who have questions about the jw, etc.
my husband will lie/be deceitful about the silliest, simple things.

How I see it at this time of my life is:
JW's live with dual thoughts.
For instance in a talk, they'll go on about how GOD LOVES HIS CREATION but at the same time, you'll hear that when it comes down to the Great Tribulation, probably you'll be saved... Probably you might make it but God apparently is only going to save people thru the Great Tribulation as a group and not as individuals.
So now you have two opposing ideas. God loves me but won't, maybe, possibly save me. There are many things like this presented to JW's in all the talks and literature.
So it teaches you to divide yourself. It teaches illogical reasoning. It teaches you to make excuses for God. (He loves us so much but he has an important reason as to why he won't rescue me) So why not make excuses for yourself? And the Watchtower makes excuses for itself too and forces the rest to accept them, just as they must excuse God.
They also hold up Rahab the harlot as a good example of saving God's spys. She lied and saved the spies and herself. JW's are taught to accept lying is good when done for God.
And people being people (at least some) once they lie and get away with it - whether for something small or big - they will continue because it gives them some advantage. And that could be to get out of trouble, avoiding to have to explain themselves or even as in the case of my younger sister, to feel superior by tricking others.
I'm rather shocked to find after reading this blog for years, that many fudged their time etc. Because my father would break his promises, I found lying to be hurtful and didn't want to hurt others in the same way. So I didn't lie about even small things. The lady witness at work, has told me some things that shocked me. Lol. She told me she had gotten a jury summons but didn't want to go (neither did I but went any way because you were supposed to obey the secular authorities) So she did what the "wordly" guy at work suggested. Pretend it got lost in the mail. So she gleefully told me she didn't go. She and her sister, wanted to decorate a party they were going to throw. So they went and cut branches off of trees from other peoples yards. I said that is stealing. She just ignored me and called it something like An Adventure in Procuring. So she lied to herself about her actions. Yet, she gets all righteous about the Truth. She persists in doing these things even while admitting she has that fear of doing that one wrong thing at the Great T. But she doesn't see the previous acts as having any negative effect on how God sees her.
So to me JW's, unless they have their own internal brake on lying, will do so expecting to get passed on it, and will fight tooth and nail denying it unless you have absolute proof/and or a witness to their lying. Just look at their leaders....

New Research at AJWRB
by Lee Elder inthe latest research article published at ajwrb estimates the number of jehovah's witnesses who have died from following or being coerced to follow watchtower's blood policy.
the numbers are staggering.

It doesn't sound like hate speech. Sounds like anguish....
The WT has said that apostates are mentally diseased. They make Ecoli burgers so that you die from listening from them. That is labeling and hate speech.
Saying that they have changed from no blood to random fractions of blood, is true. Those that have died from the past of no blood, might well be alive today if they had accepted fractions.
There was a JW father who needed a kidney transplant. He didn't put himself on the list to receive one. Why? From 1969 to 1980 getting a transplant was likened to being a cannibal. And would God accept someone like that? He was too afraid of not being in the Paradise with his family to get a transplant. He died leaving 4 children and a wife behind. Not long after, the Wt. made it a "matter of conscience" How many others like him died because of their rules?

This convention talk offended me
by Isambard Crater inhere are my notes from the r.c yesterday, the talk called "jehovah – the greatest example of endurance".
many of you will understand why i found it offensive.. jehovah has taken the hard option of choosing to endure:.
reproach to his holy name.

I like to compare what is going on (or has gone on in the past) with the teachings of the WT, with current events/people.
Saying Jehovah has had to endure so much to prove a point and to be acknowledged as the best ruler, is like this:
The President of the USA in a talk, says how much he hates injustice, people starving, no jobs etc and how it pains him to see it all. But, until people get behind him and say how great a president he is, he won't fix anything. He is even willing to let most people die from these problems because they really need to see how much they need him.
I've used the ex president many times in this way to the jw lady at work. The Deer in The Headlights always appears.

My boss is a psychopath. Many lawyers and businessmen are also. There are also sociopaths. They will also say, steal from you, but know it is wrong and do it anyway.
My younger sister is similar to the GB in that way. I'll have to write about that sometime. I think they are more a sociopath but both types still do a lot of damage to the unsuspecting.
I think the ones behind the GB are the real psychopaths.

I've only seen the trailers but it looks good. I knew of Dunkirk thru some old English films but never researched it.
But if you do look at the trailers, there is also some documentaries suggested on the subject and I watched a few.
What I got from it was that the German's view of warfare leaped ahead of the other countries. They didn't follow how the previous war went or their tactics. So Britain, France and Belgian presumed that Hitler would try to control areas that had been crucial in the past. Hitler on the other hand, (and the generals) instead looked to divide their forces and succeeded with the Bliztkreig. Several factors contributed to stall the victory that could have been Hitler's, if he had acted quickly. According to the documentary, Hitler had a small meltdown over the generals making plans to attack without his personal direction. The general in charge of the airforce wanted a bigger share in the fighting and convinced Hitler to let him attack instead of using the Panzers and the Army which would have made short work of them.
It is also interesting to find how propaganda was used on all sides, over Dunkirk.
For the British, it was a victory to have saved these men. One soldier that was interviewed, said that they were afraid of what the country would say once they got back. They thought they would be looked down on but instead they were called hero's. It was a victory to have snatched these men from death by navy and civilians, but it played down the fact that France was lost to the Germans and they had been routed.
For France, the British had betrayed them by retreating and leaving. To put the blame on the British meant that it wasn't their fault they fell to Hitler. Soldiers interviewed said that the government had told them they would win, so they were confident in their fighting. At first only the British soldiers were being evacuated because France did not want to appear like they were losing so they didn't put out an order to evacuate. It must have been terrible for them to watch the british leaving while they could only watch. At the end, out of all the soldiers evacuated, 1/3 of them were French soldiers. There was even German prisoners brought along which was surprising to me.
To the Germans, we are wining and we are great. No surprise there but, letting close to 300,000 soldiers get away isn't smart.
On the beach, soldiers wondered where their planes were and why they weren't they helping them. That was because most were in Britain to defend the country, but there were planes sent inland to slow down the germans. Two groups of soldiers also sacrificed themselves to hold off the germans. When they could no longer hold out after running out of ammo, they surrendered. One group was herded into a barn, grenades were thrown in and any that ran out, were shot. The other group had some that slipped away but the rest were captured.
As the 97 year old veteran said, you didn't need dialog to tell the story. I'm going to have to be in a certain mood to watch it because it is so visual.
Sorry for the long post on a movie I haven't seen yet. But I'm glad I watched the documentaries first, especially for the first hand accounts from the soldiers.

So there are 6 sisters and two brothers. The brothers look like guards and the sisters look like airline stewardesses (Come Fly with Us or Die!)
Probably the Brothers at the hall came up with the idea but only sisters were willing to meet and greet. The two Bro's at the back were blackmailed into doing it.
The thing is, where are they going to run to, when difficult questions come up? Will they point at a screen and say, JW org. has all the answers? Then they will look pretty dumb.

I watched part of the Sunday convention on youtube.
What I got out of it:
Do not let feelings get in your way. Meaning - Even if family members are suffering, someone has a good point about children suffering from pedophiles, shares a story of injustice from one of the members - don't let your feelings sway you.
Use the glasses the WT gives you (by reading their publications) so that your perception is correct. No feelings, use your brain. Your brain on
drugsWT teachings that is.All prophesies have been fulfilled. Except of course "the End" They didn't clarify what was a part of the End tho. Is there still Peace and Security to be called? Probably most witnesses will assume it just is the tribulation that is left.
They used the speaker to pound home that 1975 was our fault and not theirs. And that he was glad to have
wastedspent his time pioneering out of high school and had his house sold like so many others. Whether that was true or not in his case, I wonder how he had felt about being used as an example on stage. Oh wait, that would have meant he felt something. My bad. He had his Glasses of Perception on! -

One of the last Sunday talks I went to, was from a young Elder that I had babysat when he was a kid. He had always given imaginative talks before with some humor. The regular speaker hadn't shown up, so he prepared a fill in talk.
As he stood at the podium, his face was already dark and angry. It was about college. Of course, Korah the rebel was brought up and as he spoke, his words were grating and harsh. After all was said and done with these illustrations and examples, this is what he concluded with.
There are pages and pages of warnings by the GB about why we shouldn't go to college, but some people point to one paragraph that says "it's up to your conscience" as an excuse to ignore all the counsel.
So you see, it isn't up to your conscience, it is just what the GB says. It was a sad day for me to realize that this bright young man, had been twisted into such a person. But then, I would have accepted such counsel just a year before.

What? You thought the paradise was meant for you? Seriously? Animals are the meekest things on the planet compared to humans. And don't quote the scripture about the fig trees. You have two in your enclosure - share!
